As a young child, I was endlessly fascinated by natural phenomena. Indeed, my mother described how I, by the age of ten, inadvertently discovered Newton&#8217;s first law and Archimedes&#8217; law of fluid displacement. I believe that this passion, and tenacity for understanding natural laws, has guided me throughout my life. My fascination and engagement in life have served me well in the development of my body of work, discovering the roots of trauma and its healing pathways. My early years had trials and tribulations, as many do, and like others who have experienced childhood trauma, I was guided by my own compelling need to heal. I guess you could say that much of my research was “me-search.” 
As a young adult, entering a PhD program in Medical and Biological Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, I had a prophetic dream which set the arc of my explorations of trauma and of the human condition. In this dream, I was walking toward a two-column elevator with spherical entryways. I realized that this was an autonomic ganglion.  When I entered into the door, I felt an ominous presence. As I looked around, I discovered that it was the cold disapproving look of an important mentor I had in undergraduate school. His mechanistic worldview had no room for feelings and sensations, and he certainly would not approve of my new direction toward the study of “life energy.”  In the dream, I went through the autonomic door and there was no turning back. Then in 1978 I met Stephen Porges and we shared a passion for bottom-up processing and emergent properties. My relationship with Porges and this prescient dream heavily influenced the development of Somatic Experiencing®.
Over the past 50 years, as I developed SE™, and then taught it to anyone who would listen, I mentored thousands of therapists and healers worldwide. My passion turned to be a “Johnny Apple Seed,” spreading my knowledge around the world. And now this passion is being extended to dedicated Faculty members who are passing on this legacy.

Peter A Levine, PhD

Dr. Jen Pfleghaar is a double board certified physician, Emergency Medicine and Integrative Medicine. She graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, trained at St Vincent’s Mercy Hospital for EM residency and her Integrative Medicine fellowship was completed at the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.

Jennifer Miele is the founder and director of Nube Health Inc. as well as the co-founder and clinical director of the Baja Medgate clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. She received a HONORIS CAUSA DOCTORATE Recognition by the Instituto Mexicano de Líderes de Excelencia (Mexico City) in the area of medical research. Jennifer specializes in medical research and nutrition and has worked with several hospitals, integrative health centers, research centers, stem cell therapy specialists, immunologists, chemists and many specialists in their fields. She continues to strive and accomplish a goal of offering the most integrative medical programs available. Jennifer Miele

Pierre Kory is the former Chief of the Critical Care Service and Medical Director of the Trauma and Life Support Center at the University of Wisconsin. He is considered one of the world pioneers in the use of ultrasound by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of critically ill patients. He helped develop and run the first national courses in Critical Care Ultrasonography in the U.S., and served as a Director of these courses with the American College of Chest Physicians for several years. He is also the senior editor of the most popular textbook in the field titled “Point of Care Ultrasound,” now in its 2nd edition and that has been translated into 7 languages worldwide. He has led over 100 courses nationally and internationally, teaching physicians this now-standard skill in his specialty.
Dr. Kory was also one of the U.S. pioneers in the research, development, and teaching of performing therapeutic hypothermia to treat post-cardiac arrest patients. In 2005, his hospital was the first in New York City to begin regularly treating patients with therapeutic hypothermia. He then served as an expert panel member for New York City’s Project Hypothermia, a collaborative project between the Fire Department of New York and Emergency Medical Services. This project created cooling protocols within a network of 44 regional hospitals – along with a triage and transport system that directed patients to centers of excellence in hypothermia treatment – of which his hospital was one of the first.
Known as a Master Educator, Dr. Kory has won numerous departmental and divisional teaching awards in every hospital he has worked. He has delivered hundreds of courses and invited lectures throughout his career.
In collaboration with Dr. Paul Marik, Dr. Kory pioneered the research and treatment of septic shock patients with high doses of intravenous ascorbic acid. His work was the first to identify the critical relationship between the time of initiation of therapy and survival in septic shock patients – an aspect of the therapy that led to understanding all the failed randomized controlled trials that employed delayed therapy.
Dr. Kory has led ICU’s in multiple COVID-19 hotspots throughout the pandemic. Having led his old ICU in New York City during their initial surge in May for 5 straight weeks, he then travelled to other COVID-19 hotspots to run COVID ICU’s in Greenville, South Carolina and Milwaukee, WI during their surges. He has co-authored 5 influential papers on COVID-19, with the most impactful being a paper that was the first to support the diagnosis of early COVID-19 respiratory disease as an organizing pneumonia, thus explaining the critical response of the disease to corticosteroids.

Bruce Patterson, MD received his undergraduate training in molecular biology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then received his MD at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine followed by a residency in pathology. During the early stages of the AIDS epidemic, Dr. Patterson began investigating cellular reservoirs of HIV-1 using molecular and in situ cell based technology patented in his laboratory and used today around the world. I am both a person with lived experience and a health care professional. I became ill with ME/CFS, FM and MCS in 1989 during my second year of psychiatry residency. Subsequently I have been diagnosed with several related conditions including, Lyme disease, orthostatic intolerance, joint hypermobility and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. As a result of my illness experience and the lack of available medical care, I decided to devote my career to learning more so I could help myself and others. I didn&#8217;t have a lot of hope of recovery but I kept putting one foot in front of the next.
I tried everything I could access from both conventional and integrative treatments. For the first 27 years nothing led to substantive or lasting change. Then, in 2017, my health improved substantially and I have been able to return to many of the activities I love like travelling to beautiful nature locations.
Surprisingly, the things I was doing at the time of my recovery were all low tech: sleep strategies, diet change, pacing, using neuroplasticity to rewire my brain and actively looking for hope &#8211; no injections, experimental supplement protocols or off label drugs.
From this, I deduced that there is more hope of recovery than I had thought during the years of chasing a high tech cure. I started reading the literature on the impact of &#8220;lifestyle modification&#8221; and have found extensive evidence that the choices we every day impact our biology. I have been teaching these effective strategies to my patients and online participants and they are reporting improvements. We have much more power than we think.

Eleanor Stein, MD

Dr. Peluso is an infectious disease physician at the University of California, San Francisco. Prior to COVID, his research focus was on the chronic sequelae of HIV infection. Suzanne Gazda, MD

Jordan Vaughn received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama, his medical degree from UAB School of Medicine, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UAB Hospital. He is the son of a local physician Dr. Michael Vaughn, who started MedHelp Urgent Care in 1982, the year Jordan was born.
After finishing training, Jordan brought his knowledge of internal medicine to further expand MedHelp Clinics to care for patients in all aspects of outpatient medicine; acute and chronic; body and spirit. Medhelp Clinics now has six locations, sees over 190,000 patients a year, and employs 18 physicians and over 200 healthcare workers.
Since the appearance of SARS-CoV2, as owner and CEO, Jordan pushed his organization to be on the leading edge of properly delivering early outpatient treatment for his patients and the Birmingham community for COVID-19. Dr. Jordan Vaughn

Paul G. Harch, M.D. is an emergency medicine and hyperbaric medicine clinician who is a Clinical Professor of Medicine, Section of Emergency Medicine, at LSU School of Medicine, New Orleans, and former director of the University Medical Center Hyperbaric Medicine Department and LSU Hyperbaric Medicine Fellowship.
In 1989 he adapted the wound concepts of conventional hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat and conduct research on patients with wounds in the central nervous system. That initiative resulted in a private practice with one of the largest and most diverse case experiences in neurological hyperbaric medicine in the world. This experience began with brain injured boxers and divers and expanded to patients with cerebral palsy, autism, drowning, Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and approximately 90 adult and pediatric neurological diagnoses.
In March, 2020 he proposed the application of HBOT to COVID-19 pneumonia based on the successful use of hyperbaric treatment for dying Spanish Flu patients in 1918 and has now successfully treated patients with COVID-19 Long-Haulers Syndrome and COVID vaccine injury. Dr. Harch’s work and perspective on hyperbaric oxygen therapy have been published in multiple scientific articles, book chapters, and in his book, The Oxygen Revolution, where HBOT is explained as an epigenetic therapy with expected revolutionary effects on medicine and neurology.

Yusuf (JP) Saleeby, MD is a graduate from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia and completed post-graduate training at East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina. He pursued a career in emergency medicine (EM) for almost two decades. During his career in medicine he held posts in occupational medicine (DOD) and Urgent Care and Family Medicine. Currently, he practices Integrative &amp; Functional Medicine at Carolina Holistic Medicine with sites in the Southeastern USA.
Retiring from the Emergency Department in 2013, and after serving as past medical director for the South Carolina Urban Search &amp; Rescue Task Force-1, his focus is now exclusively on Functional Medicine, research and development of healthcare delivery models, and nutraceutical formulations. He is a member of ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Disease Society), an organization that understands and treats Lyme disease and associated tick-borne chronic illness. He has also an active member of IFM (Institute for Functional Medicine), AARM and ISEAI, and has been a member of A4M, ACAM and the American Telehealth Association in the past.

A competitive swimmer in college, he tried his hand at Luge in Lake Placid, NY under the coaching of US National Team athletes for a couple of years; he enjoyed several years training with Team Savannah Olympic Lifting team and competed in State &amp; National Masters Olympic Style Weightlifting &amp; the Georgia Olympic Games in the mid-2000’s, achieving podium finishes. He had the opportunity to oar (row) a Greek Trireme (replica of a 120-foot ancient warship) on the Aegean Sea and on the Thames River in London in the early 1990&#8217;s as part of an American contingent of rowers; he also served as the crew’s assistant medical officer. He enjoys his patients as a advocate for them and practice of integrative medicine, educating them to be self-reliant so as to enjoy many healthy disease-free years. James Odell, ND, OMD, LAc. is the Executive Director of the Bioregulatory Medicine Institute (BRMI). He has been practicing bioregulatory medicine in the United States for over two decades.
James graduated with a doctorate in naturopathy in 1980 from US International University (USIU was renamed Alliant International University in 2001 and no longer offers naturopathic medicine studies). After naturopathic college, James completed a three-year post-doctoral program in traditional Chinese medicine at Shantou University Medical College, with medical residences at Shantou University Teaching Hospital, Shantou Central Hospital, and Shiwan Hospital.
Upon returning from China, he completed several internships in European bioregulatory medicine at the Paracelsus Klinik, Lustmühle, Switzerland.
